Every Tattoo Starts with a Picture
Getting the Picture
There are three options for deciding on the picture:
1. The picture may be one the you have already decided
on that you bring for the tattooist to work with.
2. You can work with the Tattoo artist to create
an original picture. This is called custom work.
3. You can choose one of the many existing pictures
that have proven to be popular with the public. These pictures are called flash
and most shops have a selection of flash to choose from.
Once the tattooist has a picture, a stencil is made either by hand or by Thermofax.
The stencil is applied to your body and the tattooist begins by outlining the
design. The outline may be all that is required or the artist may go on to fill,
color or shade the design. Most tattoos are done this way. Sometimes a tattooist
may work without a stencil. This is called "freehand". Once the inking,
or that sitting's inking are done the artist will explain aftercare to you. |
